What are my rights?

Everyone has the right to a life free from violence. No one is allowed to hit you; this is prohibited. In Austria, there is a Protection from Violence Act. This consists of various parts.

You have the right to free legal support during proceedings for the entire process. This means: you receive counselors who accompany you. These are called legal support specialists. Your legal support specialists are a counselor (for example, a social worker or psychologist) and a lawyer.
