How do I get into the women’s shelter?
If you need to leave your home, call our helpline: 05 77 22. Placement is arranged through the helpline.
On the helpline, you will speak with a social worker about your situation. She will explain what is important and tell you how to get to the women’s shelter.
Important
- Before calling the helpline, find a safe place where you can make a call.
- If you are in immediate danger, call the police: 133.
- The social worker on the helpline will ask you some questions. Do not be afraid; this is to help us properly assess the danger.
- Describe your situation.
- The social worker will tell you the address of the women’s shelter over the phone and explain the best way to get there.
- The addresses are confidential. Do not share the address with anyone.
- You can also call together with a person you trust.
- If you wish to speak with us in your native language, we will arrange for an interpreter by phone.
- Pack a bag with your most important belongings.
- If you do not have time to pack a bag, do not worry. At the women’s shelter, you will receive clothing, hygiene products, and food.
- Accompanied by the police, we can collect important items from your apartment at a later time.
What happens next
- After you arrive at the women’s shelter, you and your children will receive your own room.
- At the women’s shelter, you can first find peace and quiet.
- You will be assigned your own counselor.
- In the coming period, you can discuss your situation with your counselor.
- Together, you will look for solutions.
- Your counselor will support you in planning your path to an independent life.
- It is important: You decide how to proceed. We will support you in your concerns.
